Creative Spark #2

I was wondering if anyone else thought as I have. Bing. (say "bing" out loud it has more impact). I found a great article from Relevant written by Dawn Xiana Moon. Check it out. http://www.relevantmagazine.com/pc_article.php?id=7378

Creativity

Why does it seem that the Christian church struggles with creativity? Why do we need to copy as opposed to creating our own paths? Remember that Coke T? Unreal. Drives me crazy. We can do better than this. Leading edge vs. the bleeding edge. Look at this and this you've got to be kidding me. Alas, it is no joke, we are creatively pathetic. Check the Harry Potter sign out.

So what is it going to take for us to step up. I do not have marketing credentials, nor do I have a portfolio of products I have worked on. I love ideas and I love the creative process. I will post some of my stuff and you can let me know. But what I do know is that none of my idea's have ever included Soap on a Rope Jesus or You are going to hell in a handbasket flip flops.

Update

Apparently people read this blog because I have been getting some flak for not updating it. Alas, it has been a busy spring. I will upload some pics so you can see what has been taking my time. In the meantime, here are some Mult-site church links. Peruse the sites, see what you interests you, what you like, don't like and let me know your thoughts! Thanks for reading.
Community Christian (home of the Big Idea) - Chicago
Westside Family - Kansas (great website)
Flamingo Road (they have a campus in Lima Peru to which they FedEx a DVD each week) - Florida
North Pointe - Atlanta, Georgia
Seacoast - Carolina's
Okay, this link isn't about multisite at all. It's a great online "christian" radio station.

Keep enjoying summer. We sure are in the Okanagan...

The Answer

Whether you are a little grumpy when your boys stink up the joint and you have to suck it up (see picture) or you are head bopping to Mika's new song Grace Kelly there is always room for some April 1st Comedy.

One of Those Days

Maybe you have had one of those weeks. Ya know where you just want to throw your hands in the air wishing it was because you just didn't care - there's a little play on some 90's musicah for you.

You can fill in your own blanks of work, errands, jobs, kids whatever of stuff you had to do, bills you should have paid, and time you can't recover. Maybe your 2 year old daughter enjoys waking up regularly, let's say around 2:00am and decides you should join the party. Although it is difficult to party when you need your sleep because you are 36 and you cramp all the time unless you sleep at least 8 hours. The screaming begins and you are immediately awake thinking that a large rodent is gnawing on your child. You bust in the room and the screaming immediately stops and giggling starts. Due to your half conscious state you believe your daughter is giggling because you farted as you were running to save her, which made you giggle, alas it is not so, She is laughing because she made you get out of bed again, and to save money you turn the heat down at night so it is blessedly cold and your feet are freezing. You discover no rodent but at this point it feel like something is gnawing in your forehead because you have a massive headache. Now she is chanting "Dora" hoping you'll put on a movie. If you were to be honest, at this precise moment you would give Swiper your left leg to make Dora disappear forever. Swipe that sister. And maybe 2 hours later your daughter decides that it is time to sleep now only to be awake 2 hours later because the sun has just come up. So your head finally hits the pillow but all you can think of is that song "D-d-d-d Dora..." And you start weeping uncontrollably. Mostly because you really have to go to the washroom but your forgot to go during the tirade. But I am just giving a possible example.

I am having one of those weeks. This is always the time when I feel like hitting those orange pilons on the road. Not just hit them - blast through them. To see those puppies flying everywhere would be quite fun I do believe. No I don't have pent up anger, just having one of those weeks.

For some reason that new song "Grace Kelly" by Mika sums up my week. Weirdest song ever but I can't help bopping my head.

Maybe I need to take a week to think about it.
